Dr. George Arceneaux, originally from Lafayette and Homa, LA, but living in Mississippi for the past years has passed away.
George Arceneaux was one of the organizers of the Society for Louisiana Irises and served on the Board and on several committeses during the early years of the organization.
He was the uncle of Lucille and Aline Arceneaux, who continue to contribute their time to helping the Society.
Some of the Louisiana irises he hybridized are still in gardens such as: 'Aline Martin', 'Edith Dupre', 'Helen Smith' and 'Louise Austin'.
